Special Christmas Gift

This year will be hard to beat because of our special gift.   We intended to do smaller gifts this year and focus more on family and friends and enjoying the time together.   I know … I know …. so what was the special gift already?   Well since you asked so nice, Laura and I have been blessed to have our first child.   Of coarse, that means our parents get to be Grandparents.   This is a picture that was taken after everyone opened our special little gift.   Everyone got a pin that said something to the effect of Expectant Grandma/Grandpa.   The picture didn’t quite get everyone into frame, but I wasn’t all that worried about it when I was taking the picture.

Christmas in the New House

dsc02015Well, we got the ole Christmas tree out and setup during Thanksgiving.   We decided to get it out and setup early since we had a house full of family over for Turkey-Day.  (It was a very wonderful day indeed.)   And you look closely what is that you see.  Could that be presents wrapped and already placed under the tree?   Yep, Santa has been busy and way ahead of schedule this year.   As you can tell from the picture, this tree has seen a number of Christmas Holidays.   We are planning on getting a new tree for the new house next year.   Probably something a little bigger that fits better in the higher ceiling living room that we have now.

dsc02011We also decided to decorate the outside of the house as well.   That was actually a lot more work than I gave it credit.   However, thanks to the help of the Mrs we where able to get them all strung up.   We will add a few strands of lights from year to year and soon we might rival the Grizwolds.   We are looking at having family over for Christmas at our place and probably for New Years as well.

So, if we don’t see you between now and then, we wish you and your family a very Merry and Safe Holiday Season.

The New House

Well it is official, we not have a house!   Everything went well at closing and we both took off the next day to start the move in process.  We where able to get about 1/5 of the apt moved.  We got the bed, TV, and Computers.   We still have most of the BIG furniture left and a LOT of boxes of stuff.   We have until the end of the month to move everything out of the apt, and get the apt all cleaned up.   The house was just like Grand Central Station on Wednesday.  The Sod people and Cox came out in the morning.   Cox got the cable stuff fixed up around 11:30 am (ballpark).   The Sod guys finished up around 12:30pm.  Next came Bob Mills and a load of furniture, which arrived at 1:30 pm (ballpark).   And right when I thought I was going to be able to help laura move things from the apt, Cox Business shows up for the Internet connection.   So, once everything was said and done I was able to help for only two trips from the apt to the house.   Laura did way more than her fair share of work.   I just sat around the house and played water monkey moving hoses around the yard.   Speaking of which, we have a LOT bigger yard than I had expected.   More watering and mowing for us.   I am just hoping that the Sod will take before fall.   I will add a new picture on the house to this message later once I get a good one.

Movie Review: The Bourne Ultimatum

Well, we went out and watched The Bourne Ultimatum this weekend.   We have really enjoyed the previous movies and were anxiously awaiting this one.  The movie was great.   If you are like us and enjoyed the other movies, you will not be disappointed in this one.  The story now explained and the missing peices of the puzzle are filled in.  This will not only be one to watch in the theater, but one to purchase for the movie collection.

Movie Review: Man of the Year

man of the year

We had a few preconceived notions about this movie before we watched it.   As most of you might have thought, this should be a barrel of laughs.   Although there was a lot of humor, there was a unforeseen conflict that wasn’t expected from the movie trailers.  The story line had a mix of comedy and drama; however, we felt that there were a few too many dry spots than what we had expected.

Don’t get the wrong idea, we feel that this was a very solid movie.   While it might not make movie of the year in our books, it diffidently makes our list of movies to see at least once.

And if you like Robin Williams, then you will diffidently have to watch this.  You will not be disappointed.
